That little girl frozen in time.

frozen-in-time-2-1She was within you sleeping peacefully,

Awoken one day by a memory

That little girl frozen in time

Laying in the darkness

You are too scared to close your eyes

The nightmares will takeover

Painting and repainting the pictures from your past

You freeze, can’t move

She is here

That little girl frozen in time

Curled up in the corner

Your knees pulled to your chest

You fear the shadows

You fear the pain

You are haunted by your past

She is here

That little girl frozen in time

Cold and emotionless

You wait for the flashbacks to invade

It hurt when he made you a woman

You were just a little girl

Triggers make you remember

She is here

That little girl frozen in time

The pain is fierce

You cannot cope

You must find a release

You slide a knife across your skin

Draw blood with each new cut

You build the walls around you

She is still here

That little girl frozen in time

You built up walls to keep you safe

But now you are confined

Trapped in your past

Destroying your present

Stealing your future

You are being torn apart by her

She is always here

That little girl frozen in time

You have to try

You have to love the little girl you used to be

This is the part where you find out who you are

You are not ordinary

You are extraordinary

You are that little girl

She is you

That little girl frozen in time

Listen to your heart

It is still beating

It is still fighting

You made it

She made it

She survived

She is here

That little girl frozen in time

Her strength and courage are shining through

She is allowed to grow

Tear down your walls and free her

Let her shine

Or she will always be here

That little girl frozen in time

Let your healing begin

You are allowed to grieve

Let your anger, grief and pain unfold

As your tears begin to flow

It is OK to face your fears

To finally let go

She doesn’t have to be here

That little girl frozen in time

Dear little girl

It is not your fault

You always were enough

Dear little girl

I know it’s hard

But let yourself be free

Come out of the darkness now

You do not need to hide

You no longer have a secret

But a story and a voice

Dear little girl frozen in time

It is time for you to shine!

  1. Amazing, wonderful poem which expresses such pain but also a recogmition of healing. I am sure this will help others who have had similar experiences resulting in a froxen child.
